MCF5307CAI66B Description
By offering 68K and ColdFire users a compatible path where they can make use of development tools and customer code, the MCF5307 builds on the tradition of Motorola's 68K series. In reality, clients switching from 68K to ColdFire can do so by rewriting their 68K assembly code to work with the ColdFire architecture using code translation and emulator tools.
The ColdFire family utilizes the memory-saving, variable-length instruction set and the architectural simplicity of traditional 32-bit RISC based on the idea of variable-length RISC technology. A 68K-code compatible core that defines the ColdFire architecture for embedded processing applications combines the performance benefits of a RISC architecture with the ideal code density of a condensed, variable-length M68000 instruction set.
